Dogs On Call a program of Easterseals Alabama and is made up of over 50 pet therapy teams as well as an advisory board. These are individuals that volunteer with their personal pet to provide comfort to those in need. We visit nursing/rehab/retirement facilities, schools, children's rehabilitation centers, facilities for adults or children with disabilities, as well as many others.
Dogs On Call (DOC) was founded by Frances McGowin in 2008. She has since founded Service Dogs Alabama where she serves as Executive Director. DOC is now operated by an advisory board and made up solely of volunteers. We have over 50 certified Pet Therapy teams that visit many venues in the Tri-County area and beyond. DOC offers 2 training classes per year and requires teams be evaluated annually to maintain their certification.
Our mission is to share our pets and our love for them with others. In doing so, we also aspire to offer compassion, comfort, encouragement, and kindness to all we visit.
